Carl Padovano
Iwo Jima Field Map

IWO JIMA FIELD MAP
The battle for the Japanese volcanic windswept island of Iwo Jima was fought from February 19, 1945 to March 26, 1945.  During the battle Carl Padovano used this Field Map made of a very strong fiber material to navigate his platoon of men across the island taking objective after objective.  The map has Carl Padovano’s name, Company, Division, and personal notes on rations written on the back.

Carl Padovano, Jr., his son, gave me this material, which his father and family had saved,
only months before he past away on April 1, 2014 at the young age of 56.

Notes On The Back of The Iwo Jima Map

Map Carl Padovano used on Iwo Jima... just the full photo along with the notes on the back.
According to his son, Carl Padovano, Jr., this is Carl Padovano's Sr.'s hand writing on the back of the map who wrote the report.

This is Carl Padovano's personal map, which is made of cloth like material, which he personally used, according to his son during the battle for Iwo Jima. The map, along with other items from Iwo Jima, were in a chest in their basement.
